For our our RE theme we will be exploring the meaning of friendship. We will discuss how we make friends and why friends are so important. We will think about about how Jesus made and chose his friends.

Content to be covered in this unit


We will talk about our friends in school and friendships outside of school. We will listen to stories about Jesus and his friends, including the story of Ruth and Naomi (Old Testament). We will talk about Christians being friends of Jesus and look at symbols of friendship. 


Activities to complete at home


  • Send a letter to a friend 
  • Draw pictures of your friends 
  • Make a friendship bracelet
  • Share stories about friendship, such as The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister
  • Talk about friendships in your favourite story books or films
