Reading

Hi everyone, In Year 5 we love reading and would really encourage you to read as much as you can! We encourage free reading and devote time each day to reading and also one extended reading session on a Friday; this is also an opportunity for children to talk about their books and recommend any great reads!.We also have a whole class read to encourage reading for pleasure.

 

'Reading Planet' is our online resource for reading at home if children would like to access this and each child has a login. The link is below under 'Useful Links'.

Some children will be given a school reading book which they will read in school and at home.

 

In addition to all this, we have a novel study  each week to support comprehension skills. We follow the 'VIPERS' method of teaching reading during these lessons.More information can be found with the following link:
