Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.

'Class stars' are children selected by the class teacher - it could be for extra hard work, a great attitude or achieving something individual to the pupil.
Thursday's update:
The company who have been contracted to resolve our sewer/drains issue have continued their work today. They continue to work on the internal drains within the School building today and Friday before beginning the excavations on the Infant Playground on Monday. It will take most of next week to rebuild the collapsed sewer and repair/replace the pipes that caused yesterday's issues. At this moment in time we are confident that we will be fully open for our return on Tuesday 3rd November. Once they have excavated deeper I hope to provide a further update.
With thanks,
Mr Hargreaves
Thank you for your rapid response to the message earlier. We have just had confirmation (3.40pm) that the drain, as suspected, has collapsed. This means we are unable to open and are therefore closed until after half term. We return to School on Tuesday 3rd November 2015 at 8.50am.
We have rung three venues attempting to keep the Disco but they are unable to host us. The PTFA will publish the new date for which will be as soon as possible after half term.
Thank you once again for your positivity in what has been a very challenging week at St Mary's. I've added two pictures ... I do have more but you really would not want to see them (especially if you have smellivision!).
Mr Hargreaves
Due to extreme circumstances we are forced to close school today at 1pm. We have been battling with an issue regarding our drains all morning but the position has now become unmanageable. We have a potential collapsed drain which means sewage will not be able to flow from school. This means we do not have enough toilets available for the children to use. The company have been working since 7am to remedy the issue but now believe a 'collapse' is the next potential cause.
Parents Evening will be cancelled as we are unsure how long this issue will take to be solved. I will update parents AS SOON as I have further details. Once the children are off site the drains can be explored fully and without further risk to health and safety.
We are doing all we can to keep School open - but expect that School will be closed until after half term. I will confirm this by 4.30pm this afternoon. Please keep an eye on the app and this website.
Mr Hargreaves
We have some exciting special dinners on the way. Please book via our App or by speaking to Mrs Keir.
Monday 19th October - Evening update
School will be OPEN tomorrow (Tuesday). The Police will continue their forensic work on The Rose Gardens so Castlesite will remain closed. Please use the West Derby Village Gates to enter School, or the small gate by our main entrance. Please do be patient as there will be an increase in traffic due to the few restrictions that remain. Staff will be on hand along with PSOs to assist with traffic management. Thank you for your understanding today.
Monday 19th October 2015
Unfortunately due to the ongoing incident on Meadow Lane we have had to close School today. I do not like having to close School and would never do so without firm reasons behind the decision. Having assessed the Health and Safety implications around 6am-7am this morning myself the decision was made. This involved a conversation with Merseyside Police, the LA and Diocese. We fully expect to be open tomorrow morning unless something unexpected happens. I will text / update this message around 4.30pm this afternoon to confirm.
Thanks must go to Merseyside Police who have worked throughout the night and this morning to ensure we are all safe.
We apologise for any inconvenience but I'm sure you will agree the safety of all our pupils is the most important thing. Reception photographs will be re-booked, hopefully during this week. We are awaiting confirmation from the photographer.

Sunday 18th October 2015
You may be aware of a Police incident on Meadow Lane. Currently the road is closed and there is no access to School. I have spoken to the Police who hope to have the road open by morning, although they were unable to confirm this. If access is still denied a text will be sent as early as possible. We hope to be open as normal but this is currently out of our control.
Thank you for your understanding.
BREAKFAST CLUB will be CLOSED tomorrow.
