Walking in the light of God’s Love-Together we will succeed
Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
Celebrate with us!
'Class stars' are children selected by the class teacher - it could be for extra hard work, a great attitude or achieving something individual to the pupil.
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for your fantastic support of our Book Fair. We had a wonderful response and sold £1055.98 worth of books which means we can claim 60% commission from Scholastic Books. These books will be sent directly for classroom use and so any money gained at the fair is ploughed straight back into our reading stock.
A very big thank you must go to Mr Dunsby and Mrs Swords who ran the book fair for most of the week. We will definitely be requesting their skills again! Thank you also to Mrs Guilfoyle, Mrs Hargreaves and Mrs Gill who also gave up their valuable time to help events run smoothly.
Book fairs are a marvellous way to encourage your child to read, so don't forget to join us again in March for the next one!
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs Armstrong.
Books Art is a fantastic strategy to showcase writing across the whole curriculum. Children create a detailed book by folding, cutting and sticking different origami style inserts planned to match the requirements of a specific Scheme of Work.
Once the book skeleton has been created, the children are then able to write using the origami pages. Children are publishing each piece of work they have written within their Book Art - which adds an extra purpose for writing. Writing both in English and English across the Curriculum can be taught using Book Art.
Mr Frank Driessen visited School this evening to lead staff on the second part of our Book Art training. Frank is a former Headteacher and now works with Liverpool Diocese to share the wonders of Book Art across the North West. Staff this evening have prepared Book Art plans for their year group. Ask your children how they are using Book Art during the next term in School.
This morning we focused on ADVENT during Collective Worship. We used a video clip called: 'Advent in 2 minutes' which reminded us that Advent is about preparing and looking forward to the Birth of Jesus but also preparation and looking forward to Jesus returning to earth. After watching a clip from 'Songs of Praise' where the Advent Wreath for Chatsworth Hall was made... Mrs Keir and children from each class made this year's St Mary's Advent Wreath.
