Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Key Stage 2 Concert

On Wednesday 5th March, Classes 3, 4, 5 and 6 had the pleasure of attending the Key stage 2 concert at the Philharmonic.Hall. This year, the concert was called, “Sound Values,” and was based upon British Values. The concert was presented by Alasdair Malloy and the conductor was Michael Seal.

The music played ranged from Handel’s Royal Fireworks Music, written in 1749, to John Williams’ film score of Warhorse, written in 2011. We also heard, among others, the music of Leonard Bernstein, Libby Larsen and Percy Granger. The children listened intently and enjoyed the explanation and performance of each piece.

Before going to the concert, the children had learnt a new song called, “All our Different Voices.

”The words were written by children’s author, Mandy Ross and the music by French horn player and orchestra member,Tim Jackson. The children enjoyed singing this accompanied by the RLPO. The combined voices and musicians certainly produced the tingle factor for everyone taking part.

Before the concert began, members of the School Council were fortunate to be invited on to the stage to have a photo taken with Alasdair Malloy.

We hope that Key Stage 1 enjoy their up and coming concert in June as much as we did today. Thank-you to everyone who accompanied us to the Philharmonic. We hope you enjoyed this special event and thank you for showing us your best dance moves as the concert finished with an all inclusive boogie!

A huge thank you to Mrs Armstrong for once again organising a very enjoyable afternoon.
