St Mary's was represented well at the Holocaust Memorial Day Civic Service at Liverpool Town Hall. Two of our children joined students from Alsop for the service which included readings of words of people who survived the genocide in Rwanda in 1994.
The civic service was in the presence of The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Christine Banks who reminded all in attendance that we all “must stand up to hatred in all its forms.”
Rabbi Natan Fagleman, from Allerton Hebrew Congregation, said prayers and an Act of Commitment from the leaders of Merseyside Christian Churches to eradicate all forms of racism and hatred from society was made.
Rabbi Dr Martin Van den Bergh from Childwall Hebrew Congregation was a guest speaker and he spoke about how members of his own family died during the Holocaust. He also spoke about how his parents fled from Holland.
Thank you to Mr Bull, parent of former pupils and head of RE at Alsop High School for inviting us once again to participate in this important memorial.
Today we watched the story of Esther. Even though the evil Haman had tricked the King into ordering all the Jews to be killed, Esther risked her life to tell the King the message from Mordecai to save their lives.
We were treated to a surprise performance by Mr Hargreaves himself ( video on the Gallery page)! Thank you to Open The Book for bringing yet another story to life.

What a busy day it has been today! Lots of finishing off activities, singing in the hall then Christmas dinner for all the children. Staff waited on the children as Christmas music played in the hall.
This afternoon, KS1 and EYFS, then KS2 went into the hall for dancing and party games followed by a drink and some Haribo. Thank you to all of the staff for their enthusiasm!
One more day!
